Newly built international terminal. Check in was smooth. The immigration services were fast. This airport terminal is so new that the duty free shops are not yet operational.
There is a restaurant at the departure lounge which is also yet to start operating. Waiting area has charging stations to keep your devices charged. Also there is free airport WiFi. ????????

Madagascar as a country is a wonderful place! ❤️
But the airport here is the gate to hell!!!! Nothing is opened despite a small snack shop and you can't even pay an entry for any lounge. When you have a nightflight you need to spent your three hours waiting time on a bench. No warm food, nothing!

It seems that this airport has a thinktank to make your stay as uncomfortable as possible ????

One of the worst airports ever!!! Unfortunately you can do only one rating as this airport deserves n-times a one star rating!!! [Unfortunately 0-stars are not possible]

Easy, modern airport. Clean bathrooms. Easy check in. Arrivals are a breeze for visas, rapid PCR tests are cheap, efficient, painless, and friendly. There's a Societe General ATM you can get 80,000 (€200) Ariyani from that will last days. Taxis are 60,000, maybe less if you negotiate or arrange beforehand. Helpful porters are there if you need one, but they expect a small tip, but you probably don't need one as the tiny, clean parking lot is right there in front. Ride to the center and Haute-Ville goes past grazinflg zebu in rice fields. Traffic gets heavier just before the center, but is quite an exciting experience on the way to your hotel past the markets, former train station, and Av. D'Independence which had a stage with live music / DJs and locals that find YOU the most exciting thing to see. Moneychangers will ask you if you need to change money. Although they say it's rife with pickpockets, NO ONE even bumped into me nor laid a hand on me. Just nice people. Shopkeepers are really shocked when you stop to shop in their stalls, grab a bite to eat, or drink at the pop-up bars lit up at night with police everywhere.

A small airport. Upon arrival, quarantine staff asking money from travel buddies. A really damaging image to this beautiful country. Also there was a wait of more than 30 minutes to get back the passport after buying the visa and stamping. More than forty foreign travelers were waiting with no reason.

Shop around the money exchange before committing after passing the custom area. Sim card shops were available too.

Upon departure, change the surplus local money before the check in. Food was very expensive after the security check. Accept Euro only. Free Wi-Fi could not be found. There was no flight info display inside the departure area.

No duty free open before flight to Paris was started. Lokal people are helpful

A nice new airport although all still closed and non operational. Going thru customs is a rude experience where they dig thru people's personal stuff even notebooks and questioning every cent u have. Then 3 body searching for what knows? Really to the extreme for no reason ????

My first experience was bad due to staffs asking money and poor infrastrusture. But after the opening of the new building, its such a great improvement. It is clean, cosy and people do not ask money openly. Nice experience now.
