I have been in and out of this hostel since its creation and I have never had one complaint. It is such a fantastic place to hangout. There is a great atmosphere throughout the hostel and the restaurant bar. Some of the best food on the island. Beds are super comfortable and clean. And maybe my favorite part of all, you can tell all of the staff love working there. A happy staff provides such a contagious energy when traveling. Such a great place to be. You will never want to leave.

Also, language is never a problem. There are fluent English, French, Spanish and Malagasy speakers there everyday. Not to mention it is the only place in town that consistently uses English. You will struggle finding a good english speaker at any of the other establishments on the island.

This is one of the best places I stayed in Madagascar, and potentially the world.

I don't have the words to explain how happy you will be if you are lucky enough visit. I recommend Tamana Hostel to everyone who likes watching mind-blowing sunsets, staying in a clean place, meeting the coolest people in town and being close to everything. The place is basically new, meaning super clean. The location is amazing, next to the market. You can explore the island using Tamana as a base and the friendly staff can help you work out bike rentals. The owners and staff are the nicest people. They have a wealth of knowledge that they are happy to share and speak both English and Malagasy fluently. Even if you aren't fortunate enough to stay at Tamana, I still recommend visiting.

Staying at Tamana was like visiting friends I didn't know I already had.

best place we stayed in Madagascar! after 3 month traveling on this island i can say for sure that this is where you want to be so save some time because you're not going to want to leave!
we spent a week in Tamana hostel exploring the island during the day and coming back in time to watch the sunset on the rooftop with a cold beer.
the hostel is beautiful, decorated with lots of beautiful recycled items and managed in an environmental friendly way.
there is a kitchen for you to use and a restaurant on the rooftop with a beautiful view to the bay, and as every hostel should have you get many budget option from camping to private rooms.
the owners where super helpful and nice and i highly recommend to anyone that is coming to nosy be - stay in Tamana hostel, you wont regret it!

Only hostel on the island and probably the best and most fun place to hang out at. It's got everything. Amazing views. Clean, comfy and cozy rooms. Awesome dorms for days. Rooftop bar and restaurant. Awesome menu. Friendly and helpful staff. It checks all the boxes. The owners can also communicate in English, which is sometimes hard to come by in this francophone country.

The only hostel around, but still a very good one ????

Stayed there a few nights in a dorm because i was sick and the place is unusually good for a hostel in madagascar. It’s probably the fact that the owners are foreigners and fellow travelers.
Very friendly people and good price (the breakfast could be a bit better, like fresh fruits, because it’s very simple and repetitive)

The rooftop is probably where you wanna hangout with a nice view, set up and decoration, plus that’s where you get some breakfast /food and drinks.

This hostel is the coolest place to stay on the island. If you are looking for a chilled vibe, good music and great food then this is the place for you.

Rooms are spacious with mosquito nets and individual fans. Rooftop bar u0026 Restaurnt has some of the best views in town. Food was great especially burgers.

If you are a solo traveller then this is the only place to stay on nosy be.

Tamana Hostel felt like home and was by far the best place I stayed in Madagascar. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and helped us organize daily activities. Tamana's rooftop bar was amazing- a place to relax, meet new people, and enjoy the bar/restaurant! I will definitely be returning on my next trip to Madagascar!
